The Jade Ribbon Campaign
Every year, the brothers of Gamma Beta hosts a philanthropy week in order to raise money and awareness towards the Jade Ribbon Campaign.
What is The Jade Ribbon Campaign?
The Jade Ribbon Campaign is an outreach program to promote the prevention, early detection, and management of chronic Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection and liver cancer among Asian Americans.
Why Should YOU Care?
Chronic infection with HBV is responsible for an estimated 60-80% of liver cancer worldwide, making it the third leading cause of cancer death. Approximately 1 in 10 Asian and Pacific Islander (API) Americans have chronic hepatitis B infection compared to 1 in 1,000 of Caucasians. Liver cancer rates are 9 times higher in Vietnamese Americans, 4 times higher in Korean Americans, and 4 times higher in Chinese Americans than in Caucasians.
Our brothers strive to give back to the community and have high hopes in raising as much awareness as possible about the dangers of the Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and The Jade Ribbon Campaign.
